Hangouts desktop app looks totally different

I had to re-install my Google Hangouts desktop app, and once I did, Hangouts looks totally different.

I used to be able to see the chat bubbles, and have a moveable Hangouts icon that I could click and see my contacts and conversations.

Is it changed now or am I missing something?

You just need to enable Window Transparency...

Go to Hangouts options and look for "Enable Transparent Windows" - enable this option and you should get your chat bubbles back as you're used to!
