Clean the Walls: Remove dirt, dust, and grease. Wash the walls with mild soap and water, then rinse and let them dry completely.
Repair Imperfections: Fill any holes, cracks, or dents with spackle or joint compound. Once it’s dry, sand the patched areas smooth.
Remove Old Wallpaper: If there’s old wallpaper, remove it completely. Use a wallpaper scraper and, if necessary, a wallpaper removal solution or steamer.
Prime the Walls: Apply a wallpaper primer to ensure better adhesion and to seal the wall surface. This is especially important if the walls are porous or if you’ve repaired them.
Measure and Cut Wallpaper: Measure your wall’s dimensions and cut the wallpaper accordingly. Allow extra inches at the top and bottom to trim later.
Prepare the paste: If you're using non-pasted wallpaper, mix the paste according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Test a Small Area: Before applying wallpaper to the entire wall, test it in a small area to ensure it adheres properly and doesn’t damage the wall surface.
Apply the Wallpaper: Follow the manufacturer's instructions for applying the wallpaper. Use a wallpaper brush or smoothing tool to eliminate air bubbles and ensure a smooth finish.
Trim Excess Wallpaper: After the wallpaper is applied, use a sharp utility knife to trim any excess at the top and bottom.
Clean Up: Wipe off any excess paste with a damp sponge. Allow the wallpaper to dry completely before putting any furniture back against the walls.
