I am not interested in this function.  How do I turn it off so that I have more categories showing on the left side of my screen?

Hey there - you can  have a look here: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#settings/chat and disable Hangouts ;)

One more thing: the scrolling up doesn't work for today either. He can read any msg left for him there, but he's kind of left outside lookin' in. Can't do a thing.

All Contacts Seems to be Google Chrome. I tried it this morning. I had no history. I had Chrome open, Firefox open and hangouts.google.com open. Chrome is the only one that did not pop up a notification It is a work account. Thanks,

Another info: he can't even log out from the Hangout.
